Adding Voyager Dashboard Menus for Security Groups
You can substitute a Voyager dashboard menu for a security group's quick menu. Dashboard menus are compact, specialized quick menus that offer a convenient way to review daily transactions and other activities. You can set up dashboard menus to provide, in one convenient location, all commonly used group procedures. For groups that perform certain types of tasks, such as site or leasing management, a dashboard can be the best choice for the group's quick menu.
On dashboard menus, tasks are organized by type or category. Each task type has a number link, which represents the sum of the items that are available for that category. Managers can also use these links to identify any issues that may need immediate attention. Clicking a number link displays a task-item summary list. Users can access and complete each task from the summary list.
Unlike standard quick menus, dashboards are not stored in the database; they are external ASP or ASPX files. In the Voyager Menu Editor screen, you can select one of the available dashboards included in Voyager; for example, the Site Manager dashboard (SiteDashboard.aspx) and the Leasing dashboard (LeasingDashboard.aspx). The standard dashboard files included in Voyager are located on the Web server, typically in the \Pages folder in the Voyager installation path. You can also add a custom dashboard external file.
The following graphic shows an example of a typical Voyager dashboard menu.

Voyager includes several dashboards that you can use for a quick menu. These dashboards are designed for groups with specific responsibilities. For example, the Regional Manager dashboard includes tasks typically performed by a regional residential site manager, and the Leasing Manager dashboard includes tasks that a leasing agent typically performs. When you install a Voyager dashboard, it replaces the security group's quick menu.
Use the Quick Menu tab in the Voyager Menu Editor screen to add and configure a dashboard menu. The first time that you access a new menu set, the Quick Menu tab contains the selections that you made when you added the menu set. If you copied an existing menu set or Yardi template, the Quick Menu tab contains the format that you copied. If you did not copy an existing menu set or template, the Caption/Link table fields in the tab are empty. For dashboard configuration, you do not need to make changes to quick-menu fields in the Caption/Link table.
On the Voyager Menu Editor screen, the Quick Menu tab includes fields for selecting a dashboard file name. You can also type a custom dashboard file name. A security group can develop custom dashboard menus specific to its organization's requirements.
You should save your work often to store any menu set changes. You can click the Preview button to review your work as you configure a menu set. On menu preview screens, you can also click most menu commands and links to test or review them.
This procedure provides instructions for adding a Voyager dashboard menu. For information about configuring a standard Voyager quick menu, see “Configuring Voyager Quick Menus for Security Groups”.
